Practical Information

  • Our school year, starting in January is divided into three terms with breaks for Easter, Winter and Summer. 

  • The school day begins at 8:20 a.m. with Assembly when we come together and ends at 2:30 p.m.

  • Children are under supervision from 07:30 to 15:30.

  • In case of cyclones, torrential rain or social disorders, we follow measures prescribed by the Minsitry of Education.

  • The day is divided into 8 periods with a break between 11:10 a.m. and 12:00 for lunch and recreation.

  • No canteen facilities are provided. Children bring their lunch and water.

Code of Discipline
Our Code of Discipline is based on reward as well as on compliance and sanction. Ecole de Lorette de Vacoas places great emphasis on rewards and encouragement and also acknowledges the need for sanctions to deal with unacceptable behaviour and attitudes. A copy of the code of discipline is given to Parents or Responsible Parties when a child enters school.

Reward System
At Ecole de Lorette de Vacoas we operate a reward system which include some of the following:

  • Special school assemblies to celebrate exceptional events such as pupils winning medals in sporting events, painting, writing competitions, Alliance Française etc.

  • Names displayed on the “Tableau d’Honneur” where effort, self-discipline and good behaviour are rewarded.

Admission

Ecole de Lorette Vacoas welcomes more girls than boys. 
Application for enrolment in Grade 1 can be done from end January to end February of the previous year with a processing
fee of Rs 500.

The following criteria are taken into consideration when assessing applications for places in Ecole de Lorette Vacoas. 

  • The child has present or past sibling/s in the Junior School.

  • Reasons given in writing by the parent/s or carer/s who seek admission for the child.

  • Evidence that the family shares Loreto's values such as spirituality, faith and/or community involvement.​

 

Families may be invited to enlarge on their enrolment application.
Prior to admission, pupils will be doing a readiness test which will determine whether they will be admitted in the following year or whether they would have to wait for another year.

Vacancies at other levels are filled on a case to case basis.

Ecole de Lorette Vacoas is a private school. The school depends on the payment of fees for remunerating the staff and for running the school.
